Ressurection Sunday

1. Cursed

Galatians 3:13–14 NKJV
Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a
curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a
tree”), 14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles
in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through
faith.
Worse than the pain of the cross was the shame of the cross.
1 Corinthians 1:18–19 NKJV
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing,
but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
Crucifixion was a Curse
Deuteronomy 21:22–23 NKJV
If a man has committed a sin deserving of death, and he is put to
death, and you hang him on a tree, 23…. for he who is hanged is
accursed of God.
In sum, Jesus died not only for the guilt of our sins, but also for the
shame of our sins.
Redeem – Greek
Verb
1. to compensate for the faults or bad aspects of something.
2. Gain or regain possession of something in exchange for payment.
3. To fulfill or carry out a pledge or a promise.
Isaiah 53:5–7 NKJV
But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.
6 All we like sheep have gone astray;
We have turned, every one, to his own way;
And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
7 He was oppressed and He was afflicted,
Yet He opened not His mouth;
He was led as a lamb to the slaughter,
And as a sheep before its shearers is silent,
So He opened not His mouth.
You see here the great exchange, His life for our life!
You and I deserved this punishment, but Jesus took the penalty of our
sin.
Why? Love!
John 3:16–17 NKJV
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that
whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world,
but that the world through Him might be saved.
We Have Won

This is a great day of celebration, this is a great day of liberation this is
a great day of victory! The battle has been one we are free
Colossians 2:14–15 NKJV
having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us,
which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having
nailed it to the cross. 15 Having disarmed principalities and powers,
He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.
1 Corinthians 15:57 NKJV
But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus
Christ.
The resurrection tells the Christian that the sin of your past doesn’t
define your future.
Romans 5:17
For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much
more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of
righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.
Since it only took one man to lose it all
It only took one man to get it back

Old Testament examples of the ministry of prayer

1. Jeremiah

Jeremiah 1:5-10
5 Before I formed you in the womb I knew [and] approved of you [as
My chosen instrument], and before you were born I separated and set
you apart, consecrating you; [and] I appointed you as a prophet to
the nations.
6 Then said I, Ah, Lord God! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am only a
youth.
7 But the Lord said to me, Say not, I am only a youth; for you shall go
to all to whom I shall send you, and whatever I command you, you
shall speak.
8 Be not afraid of them [their faces], for I am with you to deliver you,
says the Lord.
9 Then the Lord put forth His hand and touched my mouth. And the
Lord said to me, Behold, I have put My words in your mouth.
10 See, I have this day appointed you to the oversight of the nations
and of the kingdoms to root out and pull down, to destroy and to
overthrow, to build and to plant.

2. Daniel

3. Joseph

(Genesis 39)

4. Esther

Esther 4:13-17
13 Then Mordecai told them to return this answer to Esther, Do not
flatter yourself that you shall escape in the king’s palace any more
than all the other Jews.
14 For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance shall arise
for the Jews from elsewhere, but you and your father’s house will
perish. And who knows but that you have come to the kingdom for
such a time as this and for this very occasion?
15 Then Esther told them to give this answer to Mordecai,
16 Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and
fast for me; and neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. I
also and my maids will fast as you do. Then I will go to the king,
though it is against the law; and if I perish, I perish.
17 So Mordecai went away and did all that Esther had commanded
him.

5. Isaiah

Isaiah 40:3-6
3 A voice of one who cries: Prepare in the wilderness the way of the
Lord [clear away the obstacles]; make straight and smooth in the
desert a highway for our God!
4 Every valley shall be lifted and filled up, and every mountain and hill
shall be made low; and the crooked and uneven shall be made
straight and level, and the rough places a plain.
5 And the glory (majesty and splendor) of the Lord shall be revealed,
and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of the Lord has
spoken it.
6 A voice says, Cry [prophesy]! And I said, What shall I cry? [The
voice answered, Proclaim:] All flesh is as frail as grass, and all that
makes it attractive [its kindness, its goodwill, its mercy from God, its
glory and comeliness, however good] is transitory, like the flower of
the field.

Modern examples

1. Example of Lynn Hammonds testimony about praying in the spirit.

“A modern example of what we’re talking about. Rooting out, tearing
down, building. And you don’t even have to know what you’re saying
a lot of times.”

2. Example of missionary to Afghanistan and how prayer changed his ministry

“You can see the results of that road being made in prayer. You can’t
see it with your natural eyes but it’s there.”

3. Example of Reese Howard’s testimony about praying during WWII

  • Prayer Assignments
“God uses people in prayer to bring about his purpose in the earth
and to ensure that the gospel is preached to every creature on the
    earth.”

Intercession for the nations

God is looking for someone to stand in the gap and pray for the
nations.

Ezekiel 22:29-30
29 The people of the land have used oppression and extortion and
have committed robbery; yes, they have wronged and vexed the poor
and needy; yes, they have oppressed the stranger and temporary
resident wrongfully.
30 And I sought a man among them who should build up the wall and
stand in the gap before Me for the land, that I should not destroy it,
but I found none.
Our Position in Christ to pray
In praying this way, we have to pray according to the word. And we
have to do it from our position we’ve been given in Christ

Ephesians 4:2-6
4 But God—so rich is He in His mercy! Because of and in order to
satisfy the great and wonderful and intense love with which He loved
us,
5 Even when we were dead (slain) by [our own] shortcomings and
trespasses, He made us alive together in fellowship and in union with
Christ; [He gave us the very life of Christ Himself, the same new life
with which He quickened Him, for] it is by grace (His favor and mercy
which you did not deserve) that you are saved ([a]delivered from
judgment and made partakers of Christ’s salvation).
6 And He raised us up together with Him and made us sit down
together [giving us [b]joint seating with Him] in the heavenly sphere
[by virtue of our being] in Christ Jesus (the Messiah, the Anointed
One).

Galatians 5:22–25 NKJV
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering,
kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against
such there is no law.

The word “faith” is the Greek word pistis, which is the common New
Testament word for faith. However, in this verse it conveys the idea of a
person who is faithful, reliable, loyal, and steadfast. It pictures a person who is devoted, trustworthy, dependable, dedicated, constant, and unwavering.

1 Corinthians 13:13 NKJV
And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is
love.

Numbers 23:19 NIV
God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should
change his mind.
If this unchanging, constant, stable, unwavering behavior is the nature of
God Himself.

Proverbs 28:20
A faithful man will abound with blessings, But he who hastens to be rich
will not go unpunished.

abound – Rab
abundant in quantity, size, age, number, rank, quality, captain, exceedingly,
full, great increase, many, Very much, multiply plenteous.

1. Faithfulness brings Promotion

Promotion comes from the lord

Psalm 75:6-7 KJ21
For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from
the south, 7 but God is the Judge: He putteth down one, and setteth up
another.

Proverbs 20:6-7
Most men will proclaim each his own goodness, But who can find a faithful
man? 7 The righteous man walks in his integrity; His children are blessed
after him.

Faithfulness is the currency of kingdom promotion.

Genesis 39:2-4
2The Lord was with Joseph, and he was a successful man; and he was in
the house of his master the Egyptian. (Potiphar) 3 And his master saw that
the Lord was with him and that the Lord made all he did to prosper in his
hand. 4 So Joseph found favor in his sight, and served him. Then he
made him overseer of his house, and all that he had he put under his
authority.

Genesis 39:5-6
So it was, from the time that he had made him overseer of his house and
all that he had, that the Lord blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s
sake; and the blessing of the Lord was on all that he had in the house and
in the field. 6 Thus he left all that he had in Joseph’s hand, and he did not
know what he had except for the bread which he ate.
Your faithfulness has an anointing upon it, that will affect the entire house!

Genesis 39:8-9
But he refused and said to his master’s wife, “Look, my master does not
know what is with me in the house, and he has committed all that he has to
my hand. 9There is no one greater in this house than I, nor has he kept
back anything from me but you, because you are his wife. How then can I
do this great wickedness, and sin against God?”

Genesis 39:21-23
But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him mercy, and He gave him
favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison. 22 And the keeper of the
prison committed to Joseph’s hand all the prisoners who were in the
prison; whatever they did there, it was his doing. 23The keeper of the
prison did not look into anything that was under Joseph’s authority,
because the Lord was with him; and whatever he did, the Lord made it
prosper.

Proverbs 12:24
The hand of the diligent will rule, But the lazy man will be put to forced
labor.

Luke 16:10 BSB
Whoever is faithful with very little will also be faithful with much……,

Psalm 34:3-4 NKJV
‘Magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together. I sought
the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears’

Galatians 5:16–18 NKJV
I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the
flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the
flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the
things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not
under the law.

1. In The Spirit

John 4:23–24 NKJV
But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers
will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such
to worship Him. 24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must
worship in spirit and truth.”

John 15:7–8 NKJV
If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you
desire, and it shall be done for you. 8 By this My Father is glorified,
that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.

2. Walk It Out

“Walk in the Spirit and you shall not fulfill the lust of the Flesh.”

Walk Greek = peripateō
– to make one’s way, progress; to make due use of opportunities.

Progress- keep moving forward!
– To make use of opportunities!
– To regulate one’s life
– To conduct one’s self

Fulfill Greek =
– to bring to a close, to finish, to end
– passed, finished
– to perform, execute, complete, so that the thing done corresponds
to what has been said or commanded.

3. Works Are Not Bad

James 2:14 NKJV
What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does
not have works? Can faith save him?

Weymouth’s translation
“What good is it my brethren, if a man professes to have faith and yet
his actions do not correspond?

Isaiah 61:3 NKJV
To give them beauty for ashes,
The oil of joy for mourning,
The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;
That they may be called trees of righteousness,
The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.”

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 NKJV
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not
proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it
keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices
with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always
perseveres. Love never fails.

John 15:9–11 NKJV
9 “As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love.
10 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I
have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.
11 “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you,
and that your joy may be full.

Luke 17:1-6 NKJV
17 Then He said to the disciples, “It is impossible that no offenses should
come, but woe to him through whom they do come! 2 It would be better for him if
a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than
that he should offend one of these little ones.
3 Take heed to yourselves. If your brother sins against you, rebuke him; and if
he repents, forgive him. 4 And if he sins against you seven times in a day, and
seven times in a day returns to you, saying, ‘I repent,’ you shall forgive him.”
5 And the apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.”

KJV
6 And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto
this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the
sea; and it should obey you.
So let’s take a look at this tree and its destructive forces

1. Deep Roots

It is known to have one of the largest and deepest roots structures of all trees.

This is why it was so robust and hearty in this desert region because the hot
temperatures had very little effect on this tree because it’s roots went down deep
underground and tapped into a water source.

You could cut the tree down but it would keep coming back up!

Hebrews 12:14-15 NKJV
14 Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the
Lord: 15 looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled;

Proverbs 18:8 NLT
Rumors are dainty morsels that sink deep into one’s heart.

2. It Starts with A Sting

Struck its stinger right into the heart of the fruit.

Psalm 55:12–14 NLT
It is not an enemy who taunts me—
I could bear that.
It is not my foes who so arrogantly insult me—
I could have hidden from them.
13 Instead, it is you—my equal,
my companion and close friend.
14 What good fellowship we once enjoyed
as we walked together to the house of God.

3. It’s A Killer

Sycamine trees wood was used for Making Caskets.

Psalm 55:15 NLT
Let death stalk my enemies;
let the grave swallow them alive,
for evil makes its home within them.

4. Poor And Bitter

The Sycamine tree and the Mulberry fig tree looked almost exactly alike, and
they produce the fruit that looked almost identical.

However the fruit from the Sycamine tree was extremely bitter.

The Mulberry fig was luscious delicious and therefore expensive. Because of the
cost of the screw was primarily eaten by wealthier people. The Sycamine fruit
were poor people.

5. How to Deal With Hurt

Don’t let it stay!

Luke 17:3
3 Take heed to yourselves. If your brother sins against you, rebuke him; and if
he repents, forgive him. 4 And if he sins against you seven times in a day, and
seven times in a day returns to you, saying, ‘I repent,’ you shall forgive him

Ephesians 4:26-27
Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give
place to the devil.

6. Throw it into the Sea

Luke 17:6 KJV
6 And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in thesea; and it should obey you.

Romans 12:3
…as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.

Your voice represents your authority:
therefore, when you raise your voice you release your authority this is why you
must speak to these attitudes and not just think about them.

If you don’t speak to your emotions will speak to you.

If you don’t take authority over your emotions they’ll take authority over you.

If you don’t rise up and conquer your flash it will rise up and conquer you.
