Luke 6:43–45 NLT
A good tree can’t produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can’t produce
good fruit. 44 A tree is identified by its fruit. Figs are never gathered
from thorn bushes, and grapes are not picked from bramble bushes.
45 A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good
heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an
evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart.
Galatians 5:16–26 NKJV
I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the
flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the
flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the
things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not
under the law.
The product of the fleshy nature.
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which
are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery,
hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions,
dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and
the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time
past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom
of God.
1. The Fruit Of Heaven
Galatians 5:22–26 NKJV
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering,
kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against
such there is no law. 24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the
flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also
walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one
another, envying one another.
The Greek word translated “fruit” refers to the natural product of a
living thing.
2. How To Produce This Fruit
Galatians 5:16 NKJV
I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the
flesh.
John 15:4–5 NKJV
Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself,
unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in
him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
Proverbs 13:20 NLT
Walk with the wise and become wise;
associate with fools and get in trouble.
John 15:7–8 NKJV
If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you
desire, and it shall be done for you. 8 By this My Father is glorified,
that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.
abide (Greek) “ménō”
a primary verb; to stay in a given place, state, relation or expectancy—
abide, continue, dwell, endure, be present, remain, stand, tarry, to
place
John 6:63 NKJV
It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I
speak to you are spirit, and they are life.
3. It’s Growing In Me.
Fruit always grows.
