Seek first the Kingdom Of God
Matthew 3:1–2 NKJV
In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea, 2 and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!
John the Baptist “repent the kingdom is at hand.
At hand – has arrived.
The Kingdom Is Here.
In the 4 gospel the main focus was the Kingdom Of God.
In the ESV translation, “kingdom” is mentioned 126 times in the Gospels. But then “kingdom” is mentioned only 34 times in the rest of the New Testament,
All Kingdoms Have:
- A King and Lord – a sovereign
- A Territory – a domain
- A Constitution- a Royal Covenant
- A citizenry- a community of subjects
- Privileges – rights and benefits
- A code of ethics – acceptable lifestyle and conduct
- An army – Security
- A commonwealth- economic security
- A social culture – protocol and procedures.
All Kingdoms are comprised of a number components in order for them to function properly.
- A health program-healing
- And educational program-teaching ministry of the Holy Spirit.
- A taxation system-tithing
- A central communication system-gifts of the Holy Spirit.
- A diplomatic Corps – ambassador of Christ.
- A system of administration-the ministration of the Spirit through mankind called the church.
- An Economy – A system of giving and receiving (seed time and harvest time)
Matthew 6:9–13 NKJV
In this manner, therefore, pray:
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
10 Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
13 And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
You cannot separate the kingdom of God from the will of God.
Value or No Value
Matthew 6:24–34 (NLT)
No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and be enslaved to money.
25 “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? 27 Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?
28 “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, 29 yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. 30 And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?
31 “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ 32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. 33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
34 “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.
Seek Greek zateo
to seek in order to find ,to seek after
seek for, aim at, strive after, to require, demand to crave, demand something from someone.
It Will Be Added Unto You.
Matthew 6:33 NLT
33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
It will be added to you!
Philippians 3:7–9 NLT
I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. 8 Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ 9 and become one with him.
Here is the bottom line, don’t waist your life seeking all these things.
Seek The kingdom and it will all be added to you!
The only way a person can be truly committed to the kingdom of God is to be consumed with a love for Jesus Christ!
