The power of Expectation
There is a saying that goes “don’t expect anything, because then you won’t
be disappointed when it doesn’t happen.”
I say, don’t expect anything and you will be disappointed!”
Hebrews 11:1–2 NKJV
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not
seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.
Hope from elpizō – Verb
the meaning is really “in” as in 1 Peter 3:5 , “who hoped in God;” the
“hope” is thus said to be directed to, and to center in, a person;
I can place my trust in God
Where Does it Come From?
Colossians 1:5–8 NKJV
because of the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, of which you
heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel,
Colossians 1:6a AMP
And this is the word of truth they heard and where their hope was rooted.
If you lacking Hope it’s an indication that your low on the Word
When the gospel is being preached it produces hope, it full of expectation,
it removes the barriers!
1 Peter 2:24 NKJV
who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died
to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.
Our Father is the God of all hope
Romans 15:13 NKJV
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing,
that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Hope Greek elpis = Noun
In Romans 15:13 God is spoken of as “the God of hope,” i.e., He is the
author, not the subject; of it.
Ephesians 2:12 NKJV
that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the
commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise,
having no hope and without God in the world.
1 Timothy 1:1 NKJV
Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ, by the commandment of God our
Savior and the Lord Jesus Christ, our hope,
1 Peter 1:3 NKJV
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to
His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the
resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
His word begins to expand our expectation for what he wants to do in our
lives. If we do not live in expectation.
2 Corinthians 4:17–18 NKJV
For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a
far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, 18 while we do not
look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen.
For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are
not seen are eternal.
Look at that Mountain- it’s temporary
Romans 4:17–19 NKJV
as it is written, “I have made you a father of many nations” in the
presence of Him whom he believed—God, who gives life to the dead
and calls those things which do not exist as though they did; 18 who,
contrary to hope, in hope believed, so that he became the father of
many nations, according to what was spoken, “So shall your
descendants be.” 19 And not being weak in faith, he did not consider
his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years
old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb.
