THE FRUIT OF KINDNESS
Galatians 5:22–25 NKJV
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
1. LOVE IS KIND
Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;
– Usefulness, Helpful (-ness)
– Morally, excellence (in character or demeanor) – Gentleness
– Good(-ness), kindness.
IT’S HELPFUL
Portrays helpfulness, warmheartedness, a willingness to show goodness from the heart, to others. a trait so admirable in the ancient world that it was viewed as a characteristic that everyone should seek to possess; pictures one who is attentive to the needs of others, who is beneficial and helpful to others.
IT HAS INTEGRITYPsalm 15:1–5 NLT
Who may worship in your sanctuary, Lord? Who may enter your presence on your holy hill? 2 Those who lead blameless lives and do what is right, speaking the truth from sincere hearts. 3 Those who refuse to gossip or harm their neighbors or speak evil of their friends. 4 Those who despise flagrant sinners, and honor the faithful followers of the Lord, and keep their promises even when it hurts. 5 Those who lend money without charging interest, and who cannot be bribed to lie about the innocent. Such people will stand firm forever.
Integrity think of others first
One who is considerate of other people and their needs and demonstrates this kindness in their integrity
It MAKES A GREAT LEADER
depicted those in positions of authority who are kind, mild and benevolent to their subjects; anyone who demonstrated this quality was considered compassionate, considerate, sympathetic, humane, kind and gentle;
a warm-hearted leader that gives instead of taking advantage.
It’s ADAPTABLE – in relationships it doesn’t demand it’s own way.
when applied, it conveys the idea of being adaptable to others to be adjustable or compliant to the needs of others.
You could read 1 Corinthians 13:4 like this: Love doesn’t demand others to be like itself, rather it’s so focused on the needs of others that it bends over backwards to become what others need it to be.
2. KINDNESS PRODUCES KINDNESS
Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.
8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. 9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.
3. KINDNESS SOOTHES ANGER
A gentle answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger.
2 The tongue of the wise makes knowledge acceptable, But the mouth of fools spouts folly.
A kind answer soothes angry feelings, but harsh words stir them up
They replied, “If you will be kind to these people and please them by speaking kind words to them, they will be your servants forever
4. KINDNESS LEADS TO REPENTANCE
Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?
