1. Faith As A Seed

Mark 4:30-32 NKJV

30 Then He said, “To what shall we liken the kingdom of God? Or with what parable shall we picture it? 31 It is like a mustard seed which, when it is sown on the ground, is smaller than all the seeds on earth; 32 but when it is sown, it grows up and becomes greater than all herbs, and shoots out large branches, so that the birds of the air may nest under its shade.”

Jesus compares the workings of the kingdom of God to planting seeds in the earth. “When the seed is sown,” He said, “it grows up….”
Notice He didn’t say that it would occasionally grow up. Or it grows up if it’s God’s will. He said, “It grows up and becomes greater.” Period.

Luke 8:5-15 NIV

“A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path; it was trampled on, and the birds ate it up. 6 Some fell on rocky ground, and when it came up, the plants withered because they had no moisture. 7 Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up with it and choked the plants. 8 Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up and yielded a crop, a hundred times more than was sown.”When he said this, he called out, “Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.”

His disciples asked him what this parable meant.

Luke 8:10-11

He said, “The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of God has been given to you, but to others I speak in parables, so that,“‘though seeing, they may not see; though hearing, they may not understand.’ “ 11This is the meaning of the parable: The seed is the word of God

Mark 4:24–29 NKJV
Then He said to them, “Take heed what you hear. With the same measure you use, it will be measured to you; and to you who hear, more will be given. 25 For whoever has, to him more will be given; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.”
26 And He said, “The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground,
27 and should sleep by night and rise by day, and the seed should sprout and grow, he himself does not know how. 28 For the earth yields crops by itself: first the blade, then the head, after that the full grain in the head. 29 But when the grain ripens, immediately he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.”

– First the blade.
– Then the head.
– After that the full grain in the head.

– But when the grain ripens the harvest has come.

Luke 17:6 NKJV
He replied, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you.

2. Water The Seed

Luke 8:12

Those along the path are the ones who hear, and then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved. 13 Those on the rocky ground are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away

Jump back to Luke 8 verse 6
6 Some fell on rocky ground, and when it came up, the plants withered because they had no moisture.

John 15:7–9 NKJV

If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. 8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.
9 “As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love.

Deuteronomy 32:2

Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants.

Isaiah 55:8–11 NKJV

For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. 9
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.
10 “For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, And do not return there, But water the earth, And make it bring forth and bud,
That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater,
11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

1 Peter 2:24 NKJV

who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.

2 Peter 1:3 Weymouth NT

seeing that His divine power has given us all things that are needful for life and godliness, through our knowledge of Him who has appealed to us by His own glorious perfections.

John 3:13–16 NKJV

No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven. 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even
so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Numbers 21:7–9 NKJV

Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, “We have sinned, for we have spoken against the Lord and against you; pray to the Lord that He take away the serpents from us.” So Moses prayed for the people. 8 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent, and set it on a pole; and it shall be that everyone who is bitten, when he looks at it, shall live.”
9 So Moses made a bronze serpent, and put it on a pole; and so it was, if a serpent had bitten anyone, when he looked at the bronze serpent, he lived.

Why did God tell Moses to make a Bronze Serpent?

  • In the Old Testament, Bronze is the metal associated with judgment.
  • Bronze is itself made through fire. It has to be heated to a very high temperature to be melted. It has to pass through the fire of judgment to achieve the shape and size the craftsmen design it for.
  • The serpent was the same serpent that was –deservedly- cursed by God in Genesis.
  • He took the judgment we deserved by hanging on the wooden cross

2 Corinthians 5:21 NKJV

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Genesis 3:6 NKJV

So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.

John 10:10 NKJV

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

Numbers 21:8-9 AMPC

And the Lord said to Moses, Make a fiery serpent [of bronze] and set it on a pole; and everyone who is bitten, when he looks at it, shall live. 9 And Moses made a serpent of bronze and put it on a pole, and if a serpent had bitten any man, when he looked to the serpent of bronze attentively, expectantly, with a steady and absorbing gaze], he lived.

Hebrews 12:2 NKJV

looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Alive, Free & Full of Power

Galatians 2:20 NLT

My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me

The word “Baptism” means immersion, its to completely envelop, to wrap or to cover.

1. Alive

This is the Baptism into the Body of Christ.

1 Corinthians 12:13
For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit.

This is the Job of The Holy Spirit

“By one Spirit we were all baptized into one body”

2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

2. Free

This is the Baptism into Water.

Water Baptism is a burying of the old man a cutting of the flesh. This is more than a symbol It’s a work of grace in our hearts.

Romans 6:1-8 NKJV

What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? 2 Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? 3 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? 4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5 For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, 6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. 7 For he who has died has been freed from sin. 8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him,

The Baptism into Water is, a burying of the old man, a cutting of the flesh. This is more than a symbol, It’s a work of grace in our hearts.
– Identifying with His Death

– Identifying with His resurrection

3. Full Of Power

This is the Baptism into the Holy Spirit.

What does the bible says about the Baptism of the Holy Spirit?

Matthew 3:11

I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He (Jesus) who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

Grammatically this isn’t the same baptism as 1 Corinthians 12, Because there the Holy Spirit (subject) baptized us into Jesus.

Luke 3:16

John answered, saying to all, “I indeed baptize you with water; but One mightier than I is coming, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose. He (Jesus) will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

So now you see Jesus the one who baptizes us with The Holy Spirit.

Luke 24 and acts 1 are very the last words of Jesus before he ascended.

Luke 24:49

Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.”

The last words from Jesus was not go but wait until you are with Power

Acts 1:8

But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

let’s look at all three in the the Book of Acts.

Acts 8:5-6

Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ to them. And the multitudes with one accord heeded the things spoken by Philip, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.

Jump down to verse 12

Acts 8:12

But when they believed Philip as he preached the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were baptized.

They believed – Salvation.
They were baptized – Water Baptism.

Look at verse 14

Acts 8:14-17

Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them, who, when they had come down, prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit. For as yet He had fallen upon none of them. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then they laid hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

Here we see that the Holy Spirit had already baptized them into the Body Of Christ, But Jesus wanted to baptize them into the Holy Spirit.

1 Samuel 10:6–7 NKJV

Then the Spirit of the Lord will come upon you, and you will prophesy with them and be turned into another man. 7 And let it be, when these signs come to you, that you do as the occasion demands; for God is with you.

1 Corinthians 10:1-2

Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea, 2 all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea,

Romans 14:17 NKJV
for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

Peace – greek eirene
1. National tranquillity – exemption from the rage and havoc of war
2. Peace between individuals, i.e. harmony, concord
3. Security, safety, prosperity, Joy & happiness , (because peace and harmony make and keep things safe and prosperous)
4. Of the Messiah’s peace, the way that leads to peace (salvation)
5. Of Christianity, the tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing.

We are His Body, Is there sickness in Christ?

1 Corinthians 6:15 NKJV
Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ?…

To be effective we must learn how to operate and handle things in the Spirit. It’s not by might or by power but by the Spirit.

“When Jesus becomes more real than your disease that’s when God will heal you” – Kathryn Kuhlman

“I could never get anyone healed that was all wrapped up in their sickness.”
– Benny Hinn

How do we become more aware of the Spirit of God and His presence?

1. Take Time To Wait.

Isaiah 40:31 NKJV
But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.

Psalm 40:1 NKJV
I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me, And heard my cry.

Psalm 40:2 NKJV
He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay,

2. Aware of Him

We become more aware of Him, and what we become aware of we are positioned to release.

“When we live in ignorance of what we possess we fail to write the checks that are equal to the bank account that God has given to us.”
– Bill Johnson

John 14:16–17 NKJV
And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.

1 Samuel 3:1–5 NKJV
Now the boy Samuel ministered to the Lord before Eli. And the word of the Lord was rare in those days; there was no widespread revelation. 2 And it came to pass at that time, while Eli was lying down in his place, and when his eyes had begun to grow so dim that he could not see, 3 and before the lamp of God went out in the tabernacle of the Lord where the ark of God was, and while Samuel was lying down, 4 that the Lord called Samuel. And he answered, “Here I am!” 5 So he ran to Eli and said, “Here I am, for you called me.”
1 Samuel 3:10 NKJV
Now the Lord came and stood and called as at other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel answered, “Speak, for Your servant hears.”

3. Acknowledge Him

Philemon 1:6 NKJV
that the sharing of your faith may become effective by the acknowledgment of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus

4. Reverence

Ephesians 4:29–32 NKJV
Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. 32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

5. Overshadow

Psalm 91:1 NKJV
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

Acts 1:8 NKJV
But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
